Christmas Party!

Once again the Christmas Party was a great success. Thanks to everyone who made such an effort with their fancy dress – someoutfits were very scary!
Prizes were presented to some of our young musicians for their progress in various instruments.

Classes Update

There is still plenty of room at the Set Dancing Class on Thursday night.  You only pay for the weeks you attend.

Class time: 7:30pm to 9pm – All levels welcome!

Irish Language

There are still places available in the Irish classes and there are 3 levels of class – beginner, intermediate and advanced.  All on Thursday nights.

Fleadh Successes

picture3Congratulations to all our branch  members who had success at County, Ulster and All-Ireland level.

We are proud of all our members who competed in 2010 and hope we can repeat these successes in 2011.

Congratulations, in particular, to Matthew McAstocker(pictured) who came 3rd in Uillean Pipes at the All-Ireland.

Christmas Craft Fair

Following the success of the Craft Fair at the Ulster Fleadh the branch have decided to have a Christmas Craft Fair too!  It will feature hand made gifts, festive foods and jewellery and much more.

Annual General Meeting info

At the AGM on 14th November reports were delivered by the outgoing chairman Jimmy Cowan and he thanked all our tutors for their continuing hardwork and the commitment to the branch, also to our team of volunteers who give so freely of their time to do invaluable work at the weekly classes and other organised events held at The Lodge/Dun Eigse. Jimmy has served the branch well for several years as chairman and he assured us that he won’t be disappearing from the branch! Reports were also delivered from the treasurer, secretary, PRO and youth officer. John O’Neill presided over the election of officers for the forthcoming year and a full list of these can be view on our committee page.
AGM - Orla, Brendan and Joanne

Our new Chairperson is Brendan Scullion and Vice-Chairperson is Michael McAstocker.  They hope to continue the hard work of Jimmy over the next 3 years.
Nancy Rodgers retired as Assistant Treasurer.  Jimmy thanked her for all her work over the years and hopes she will maintain her association with the branch.
Brendan, as the new Chairperson, outlined some of the areas which he hopes to develop during his time:

  • Adjudicators within the branch
  • Trip to Tipperary
  • Music Director position
  • Trip to Miltown Malbay

The first branch meeting with the new committee will be on Thursday 9th  December and all branch members are welcome to attend.
